Letchworth Village, X2

Thiells, New York
The leftover dental equipment at Letchworth Village stands in a pitch black room, surrounded by decay. Learning about the history of this place has given these lingering details a much more ominous presence.

Long Island, New York
It’s amazing how nature sometimes adapts to its surroundings. Maybe adapt is the wrong word. Reclaim, perhaps, is more appropriate.

Thiells, New York
One of the first things @elrina753 and I found on our exploration. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

Pilgrim State Psychiatric Hospital, Brentwood, New York
I took this on my second visit to Pilgrim State. I always forget about it when I look through my photos of this place - mostly because I’m always looking at the ones from inside - but it might actually be one of the most disturbing images I have from the whole complex.
This was the medical and patient receiving building - directly across from the administration building. How could someone ever bring a loved one to this place with something like that lurking over the entrance? If ever there were a bad omen - that’s it.
I can’t imagine why this kind of detail would become part of the design plans for a psychiatric hospital - it seems to play into the whole idea that those places were evil havens of mistreatment. You’d think they’d go for something a little less terrifying… like bunnies.

Pleasure Beach, Connecticut
We made our Pleasure Beach Urbex mission about a month before the city had all of the houses and buildings bulldozed. They’ve decided to leave the island to nature, which has pretty much taken over anyway. I wish they would have left the houses standing - they would have been incredible structures (or semi-structures) to visit again in 10 years or so, when the wilderness had really grown through them all.
